American Elderberry is a large shrub with bright green leaves, white clusters of fragrant flowers, and black fruits that are edible when cooked. Elderberry blooms at times of year when little else is flowering. This species can tolerate low, wet areas. It’s perfect for those wanting wildlife-friendly features. Must be pruned in the late winter.
